- The Chinese province of Sichuan is currently experiencing a major heat wave and drought. Sichuan is a large hub of international manufacturing, so this is especially bad news for the global supply chain. Sichuan gets about 80% of its electricity from hydropower and as the heat continues to increase, the local government has instructed factories to shut down completely so that the power that is available can be used for people living in affected areas.
