With recent inflation, eating at more traditional quick-service restaurants which tends to lean on the cheaper side has increased. In a recent study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it was found that prices of food purchased away from home has increased 6.9% over 2021, and is expected to increase between 5.5-6.5% more in 2022. These increases are due to higher fuel prices, transportation issues, and labor shortages that restaurants are facing nationwide.

Chick-fil-A is rolling out a test of self-driving robots to deliver meals in two of their downtown Austin, Texas locations. The main driver for this test was to be creative in times where they are struggling with labor shortages and pressures. The 80-pound robot is able to deliver food orders in all weather conditions and completes last-mile deliveries with a 90% lower carbon emissions and 80% less energy consumption.
